Inspiring youth to work towards an enhanced future

Invitation Letter

Honourable Delegates, Student Officers, Faculty Advisors and Staff,

On behalf of the whole Secretariat, it is a great honour to invite you to the fifth annual Barcelona International Model United Nations conference taking place from the 17th April 2020 to the 19th April 2020 in Barcelona.
The main venues for the conference include ESADE University and the European International School of Barcelona, two well known Spanish institutions that have proven to have an open mind towards the national and international issues that surround us on a daily basis. ESADE University, the venue where the debate sessions will be held, has been ranked as one of the best international business schools in the world. With great facilities and a great location, it promises to give rise to unique ideas and solutions to the proposed topics, as well as inspire and motivate all delegates to not only participate in the debate but pursue their hopes and dreams for the better future of the world. From this year on, ESADE is BIMUN’s main collaborator, which is why we promise to welcome all participants as best as possible.

This edition will go under the theme “Inspiring youth to work towards an enhanced future”. The Secretariat unanimously decided that this year’s conference's main focus ought to be the early introduction to global affairs insight and the pursuit of commonplace solutions. We strongly believe that MUN and BIMUN give us the opportunity to not only enrich people’s understandings on current world affairs but also enable us to take a look at ourselves and realize how we can change for the better in order to contribute to our world. Our hope is that our delegates will leave the conference having gained a better understanding of current global issues and a renewed will to take a stance and make a contribution to their own communities.

This year’s conference will have a total of 7 committees: the Security Council, the ECOSOC, the UNODC, the UNHRC, UNWomen, the UNESCO and the WHO. We strongly encourage all delegates to get out of their comfort zone and get enrolled in a committee in which they have never participated before so as to expand their general knowledge and get to think outside the box.

Seen as this year’s is the anniversary of our MUN conference, we have decided to add some new features in order to make this edition the best possible. Amongst other minor adjustments and small surprises, we have added one new committee and we also offer the new “all inclusive pack” which you can find described below and take at a look at all the details on our website. We will also include lunch for all participants on Friday and Saturday in a buffet restaurant just 1 minute away from ESADE.

The all inclusive pack is recommended for those delegations traveling from abroad. In this pack we offer to take care of the accommodation reservations for you seen as we are partnering with Hotel Sant Cugat, a 4-star hotel in the center of the city, and just a 5 minute walk away from the location where the debate sessions will be held. We will give the delegates that are staying in the hotel the chance to choose between shared rooms (double or triple) or individual rooms.

On our website,, you will find the application forms for schools and universities as well as the application form for individuals where you can find the registration process details. Registration is now open, below you can find the registration timeline for BIMUN 2020:
